Ep. 94: Be The Tamir You Wanna See in the World

Goooooood day, listeners! Taylor and Emily are joined by their dear friend and occasional co-host Kat for this crazy romp of an ep. Taylor starts us off talking about Jaila Gladden, the college student whose quick thinking saved her from a fate worse than being abducted. Then Emily reminds us that traveling used to be, somehow, worse than it is now, with the story of Jackie Pflug, who was aboard a plane that was hijacked in 1985. 

Ep. 93: We‘re Sad for Your Entertainment

We're back and we're suffering. That's nothing new! At least we've got a good attitude about it. Emily reminds us why we cannot stop fighting for women's and POC rights with the stories of Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey, three slave women who endured painful experimental surgeries at the hands of the monstrous Dr. Marion Sims. Taylor brings the temperature right down with the story of The Schoolchildren's Blizzard, and the 19-year-old teacher whose quick thinking saved her students. 

Ep. 92: That Santana Champ (cuz we‘re so crisp)

We've got a new mic and a new set-up and boy are we proud! This is finally it, guys. We talk big talk all the time about how we sound, but this is as good as it's ever been. Taylor's bringing you the inspiring story of Angela Hernandez, a young woman who survived tumble off a 200 foot cliff in her car. Then Emily pushes us out of an emotional plane with the story of Victoria Cilliers, a woman who had to survive much more than just a fall from 3,000ft. 

Ep.91: You Can Have One Roentgen, as a Treat

It's Monday and we're coming at ya!  We hope everyone has been staying safe and kind and happy out there. This episode, Emily tells the shocking and tragic story of the New London School Explosion. After recovering from that (with the help of tequila), Taylor brings us the tale of Anatoli Burgorski, a man who survived a particle accelerator shot straight to the dome. 

Ep. 90: We Forgot Our Cans of Water

Happy the day that it is! Coming at you STRONG with episode 90, in which Emily tells the story of two trapped men who survived because beer's technically a liquid, and Taylor talks about the massive eruption of Mt. St. Helens. We also just straight up don't tell you what not to forget a can of in this one. We hope you can forgive us. 

Ep.89: Hip Harp

Well hello again! We're in a new space but we've kept that same old manic energy. This time, Taylor tells the story of Nadia Comaneci, the famous Olympic gymnast who should be known as a survivor in addition to one of the world's greatest athletes. Then, Emily takes us to the recent past with a tragic story from 2020, about a man who had a truly awful experience with the investing app Robinhood. 

Ep. 88: Don't Let the Squids Drag You Down

Gooooooood Monday to ye! Emily starts us off strong with a man named Alex who barely walks away from an encounter with a rare squid species, while Taylor gives us the story of a man falsely accused of murder, who was saved by a TV show she just cannot stand.

Ep. 87: A Podcast for Gardeners, By Gardeners

Hello!! Thank you all for your patience, we took a brief intermission while Taylor moved, but we're back with an episode we recorded a couple weeks ago! We're big fans of this one, as we've got 2 stories that are both delightful and infuriating. Taylor tells the tale of the Great Molasses Flood of 1919, and Emily makes good on her promise to tell the story of the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster from all the way back in 2012. We love being back! 

Ep. 86: A Three-Mohammed Situation

We're back and it's time for another episode! Emily starts us off with the tragic history of Project 100,000 and the "New Standards Men", and Taylor tells the story of Mohammed Aisha, a sailor who was just freed after being trapped on a boat for 4 years in the Suez Gulf.

Ep. 85: Tonally the Opposite

We're sorry this one isn't so fun, but hey, we all gotta learn something once in a while, even if that something sucks. Taylor tells us the story of Darrell Cannon, just one survivor of Jon Burge's Chicago police torture ring (yeah.) And Emily walks us through a bit of history on Slave Patrols, but finishes telling us about the inspiring, incredible woman Ida B. Wells.
